I’m a little disgusted by sites like “MatchingDonor” which I will not link to from here. They provide a great service, which is pairing people who want to donate a kidney (Either altruistically, or in exchange for someone else who needs a kidney). For those of you in the dark, it works like this:
” Patient A needs a kidney. Patient A’s dad wants to give a kidney, but doesn’t match patient A. Patient B needs a kidney. Patient B’s mom want to give a kidney that doesn’t match patient B. However, Patient A’s dad does match Patient B and vice-versa. A swap is made.”
A while ago I developed some web based software to do this, it doesn’t take long and plenty of web server’s were willing to host it for free. My point is, making something like this available for free is not a big deal! Yet there are people out there who will gladly charge you $300-600 for this service. For what purpose? To line someone’s piggy bank?
Personally, I find this terrible – no one should ever benefit off of altruistic people. Therefore the folks at “DonorRegistry.Info” (Yes I have linked to them) 
are doing something terrific by offering a similar service for free. Potential donors and recipients get to post and ask for a kidney. Kudos to them for a great service – at the right price – FREE!

Hi, I’m River. I’m a 48 year old married woman living in Washington state, and I need a kidney. I have been on dialysis since January of 2008. Having kidney failure really saps my energy; I would go back to school and get retrained for a new career in health care (nursing, at least initially) if I had the energy. I am on peritoneal dialysis and have gained over 20 pounds in the past 7 months due to the dextrose in the dialysate. I do not have the energy to exercise enough to get these dialysis calories off. As a result, I have had to restrict my diet to somewhere between 600 – 800 calories a day, not enough to maintain adequate nutritional status. I am still gaining weight despite this.
My blood type is B+. I have been told that if I have to wait for a cadaver kidney, my wait will be at least 6 years, due to the scarcity of type B kidneys. I need a donor of either type B+ or type O+.

How old do you have to be to donate? And is it true that you can’t just donate to anyone, if you donate it has to be someone that’s next on the list. I don’t know how it all works.
From what I know age does not matter. And you can donate to whomever you choose, as long as you have the same blood type.
Depending on the hospital – you have to be at least 18 years old to donate a kidney. Some hospitals might prefer a little older.
An A blood type person can donate a kdiney to either an A blood type person or an AB blood type person
B blood type person only to B
O blood type can donate a kidney to any blood type.

Just wanted to say to all you folks offering a kidney “Thank you so very much”. I have been on Dialysis up here in Canada for close to five years. I had a lady I had met once come forward to offer me a kidney. We were a match, however the transplant team here found her unsiutable (are not able to tell me what that meant). I could not believe when I was told this lady came forward to offer me such a wonderful gift. The thought behind this was almost as great as the actual gift of the kidney. I have not made it to the transplant list because the surgeon says I need a live donar, however I am fine on dialysis right now. This note is not to ask for a kidney, but to

Hello I’m not sure if this all will come out right but my boyfriends Father has about a year left to live and he has been waiting on a list for bout 4 fours now to get a kidney. Both of his have failed. He had open heart surgery years ago and the hospital messed up and now he is dying because of this and since he has a rare blood type it is very hard for him to find help. We have all been tested and do not have the same type blood. He has insurance that would pay for everything you need to go threw this and after. We would all pay whatever you get at your job while you are out. If you have a child we can find good baby sitters. Whatever it takes realistically we will do it! My husband just turned 40. He has been on dialysis for 3+ years. We have young children. He has 4 girls and I have 2 girls and a boy from a previous marriage. What does it take to help moderate a wordpress? I am more familiar with forums myself and already help run kidneykorner, dialysis ethics as well as help out with some sections on kidneyspace. At least I don’t have to worry about kidneyfun anymore since they closed.
Hey does wordpress have any kind of modification to hide email addresses so that email harvesters can’t harvest them to spam later? Just wondering.
I have been telling people who come onto my site that it is best to create a free email form and have people contact them that way. Then they can just post that link. That way if any of them are spam, they have the IP at least which can be easily compared to a blacklist.
Still have ideas in my head for a secure place to look for donors but so far it is your blog and livingdonors.com that seem the best.
Glad to hear you check everyone out individually but with how the net is anymore it is frankly necessary to keep people safe.
